Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is an excellent-looking Soulslike action RPG, and its release on PS5 and PS4 is imminent, with the adventure set to begin on 11th October. In this lengthy gameplay overview trailer, we learn a little of what lies in wait for plucky protagonist Hilda in the cursed city of Aphes.
Combat lies at the heart of the experience, along with some light puzzles, and Hilda is able to change between combat styles while in battle freely. Asterigos is populated by all kinds of monsters pulled straight out of Greek and Roman legend, so expect to face fearsome minotaurs, repulsive hydra and mutated manticores.
We have had our eye on this one for a little while now, and look forward to seeing how this one shapes up. What do you think of Asterigos: Curse of the Stars? After a relatively quiet period, it looks like the gaming onslaught is about to begin. What are you planning on playing in the weeks to come? Let us know in the comments section below.

I watched Joraptor’s (I think it was his I saw) video and came away impressed. It looks great and the combat appears to be fun. Plus, it’s not $70 so maybe I’ll get it Day 1. Very tempting
Hoping this one is a other underrated gem or better just like steel rising.
Looking forward to it!!
Always interested in new souls-likes and no different here. Though this one does look a wee bit cartoony… like a halfway house between Kena and From Software.
Plus it has difficulty options 😊
Yes please! Looks great.
Sadly, I have to disagree. It looks like a PS2 game and the main character walks like a pokemon character for some reason.
Yes. I'll be playing this day one. I have tried to find my next soulslike fix following Elden Ring, but so far it hasn't clicked for me. I like the look (and preview-reviews) of this one a lot.
@Sil_Am looks a bit childish / cartoonish but I believe such design has been chosen deliberately
N.i.c.e. it looks like immortals fenyx rising.it does looks good.asterigos curse of the stars looks impressive.word up son
The characters and enemies look great, though the environments are a bit bland. Will keep an open mind and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Doesn't look souls like. More akin to immortals phoenix rising. A pick up at a deep sale for me.
@playstation1995 im curious.... what would get a 'word down?'
Yeah, I’m wondering exactly what “Soulslike” means now. This looks like a combat heavy action RPG with an emphasis on boss fights, but is that all it takes to be a Soulslike? I didn’t see anything about loss of progress upon death and having to return to the location of death to retrieve exp points, which to me is the more unique aspect of the Soulslikes. Difficult or tactical action-heavy combat RPG is really more of a general class that doesn’t differentiate from many other subgenres. Also, there’s a lot of magical power-ups, elemental attacks, and range attacks and large AOE attacks shown on the video, which isn’t what I’d call Soulslike, personally.
Regardless, I think it looks good. The art style is more Kena/Immortals like has been noted, and that’s fine. Will wait for reviews but glad to see a preview like this to increase awareness.
@Th3solution I think it is mostly about the combat system and progression path/upgrading systems for the character and weapons, both here look very similar to that of a souls game. I definitely know what you mean though
Don't know why but this game is giving me early PS4 gen vibes, and I mean that in a good way lol
Oh yeah, Iron Pineapple played the demo for this game and it seemed promising.
Looks more like an action RPG rather than a souls-a-like so that's a good thing.
I'm hoping for a similar experience to Fenyx as the sequel is quite some time away.
Played the demo on Steam, and picking it up for Steam Deck. Demo was pretty damn good.
It isn't reallu anything like Immortals Fenix Rising though, aside from some loose visual similarities. It's definitely more of a Soulslike, but more forgiving even on the hardest difficulty (yes there are difficulty modes).
Combat has an emphasis on dodging and counter attacking, and when you die you respawn at a bonfire type place that will respawn the enemies. The similarities for it being a soulslike are there for sure.
If you have a PC, I'd highly recommend checking the demo out!
Any word if it’ll get a physical release?
This looks fantastic! I recently bought, played, and beat Steelrising (another soulslike) and loved it immensely. The combat in this game looks great, and seems to offer a lot of variety. I'm keeping my eye on this one and will definitely buy it if reviews are favorable.
I never heard of this one. Looks really nice and it's out next week.
@stvevan. Theres no word down dog.its word up all the time.queens new york represent.word up son
I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on this game!
Soulslike has been used so loosely to describe such a wide variety of games that it is pretty meaningless as a descriptive term.
The combat in this looks interesting enough, though the environments look very bland. Looks good enough to be worth a rent before buying.
